Collection: Wood Carved Blocks Ect.

The patterns in the carved wood block pieces were designed using mathematical equations of harmonic functions, iterative fractal mathematics or the equations for chaotic vibrations.  The harmonic models simulate periodic motion of the planets that have subtle changes but are very predictable.  Fractals on the other hand, use deterministic equations, however the resulting images exhibit some sense of unplanned details simulating trees, surface of rocks, snowflakes.   Chaotic models also use deterministic equations but a very slight change in input to the models can result in solutions that transform from harmonic to highly disordered.  They simulate the very nature of life where each entity is unique.  The mathematical models for each different type of carving are used to generate an image that is programmed into a computer controlled 3-axis milling machine.  The milling machine is used to carve the pattern into a block of wood.  Once carved the depressed region is cleaned and then painted with pigmented oil to accentuate the mathematically generated pattern.  The edges of the blocks are finished.  Hooks can be added so that they can be hung in interesting arrangements.
